New Feature: Large Full Color Board Printing

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

Being committed to proving the best Sudoku experience possible, we thought it would be a good idea to help out those of us who aren't always on the web.  Therefore, we would like to present FREE large-print full color Sudoku boards.

These boards take up most of a standard 8.5x11 sheet of paper and are in each of the five difficulty levels that Sudokian offers.  The large-print boards are perfect for people of all ages, including those with diminishing eyesight.

These boards are offered in over 270 different color combinations.  For those of us who aren't the most adept at color selection, we have also included various color themes including two Christmas themes to get you started.

You can print as many of these boards as you would like and give them away as you see fit.  You can print them for the office, for the restroom, or for simply livening up a waiting room.  They are free for everyone and do not require a Sudokian membership.

Be sure to tell your friends about the free large-print, full-color boards at Sudokian.com.  You may access this feature by clicking "Print Board" in the upper right-hand corner of Sudokian or by clicking here.

New Feature: Microsoft Silverlight Videos

Thursday, December 6, 2007

Today we added a sprinkling of Microsoft Silverlight to Sudokian.com.  By utilizing Microsoft Silverlight, we are able to give short instructional videos to new users regarding Sudokian puzzles.

In the future we will release additional videos to supplement the Sudokian.com help database.  Other videos may also be introduced that will help more advanced Sudoku players.

Microsoft Silverlight is Microsoft's new technology to effectively and efficiently bring interactive content and a rich user experience to the web.  To view Microsoft Silverlight content, including the videos on Sudokian.com, you will need to install Microsoft's Silverlight plug-in for Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, or Internet Explorer (there is currently no support for Opera).

You can install Microsoft Silverlight by going to http://www.microsoft.com/silverlight/install.aspx.

Sudokian Public Preview Released

Saturday, December 1, 2007

It's finally here: Sudokian.com.  This innovative Sudoku web site features a unique combination of features never before seen on the web.  With its advanced web technologies and millions of boards in 5 difficulty levels, Sudokian is your path to an entirely new sudoku experience.

One of the most distinctive features of Sudokian it it's unique approach to sudoku board grading.  With both time and difficulty level taken into account in the scoring process, Sudokian is able to provide a fair and accurate competitive system.  Bonuses are also given for unused undos and partial credit is granted for incorrect boards.  Be aware, however, that there is a sizable penalty for pausing a board (you don't want to compete against a cheater do you?)

One of Sudokian's primary goals, however, is to demonstrate how sudoku, much like chess, is an allegory of life, emphasizing logic, awareness, and memory skills.  Therefore, to help focus on mental training, pencil-marks are not allowed on Sudokian boards.  This also ensures a a fair competition amongst Sudokians.

Sudokian also features a personal history view which allows you to track your personal progress and match your best board completion times.  Soon Sudokian will incorporate the best times from around the world to create the center for Sudoku competition.

Many more features, including color sudoku boards, are forthcoming so subscribe to the official Sudokian RSS feed and be the first to try them.them.
